Chapter 685: The Melancholic Prince Of The Academy [Part 2]

Alex’s classmates kept glancing in his direction the entire lecture.

They noticed how he sighed from time to time while deep in thought. It was very rare for anyone to see his vulnerable side, so this sudden gap in character was making them see him in a new light.

His lovers, on the other hand, just wanted to take a bite of him.

It was not only Evangeline who felt this way, though. Even Lavinia, who sat beside Alex, was doing her best not to hug and kiss him during classes.

In order to not cause any incidents, Alex decided to leave the class before the bell for the first period rang.

He was exempted from taking classes before the inter-academy tournament since he was considered one of the academy’s representatives.

After escaping the classroom, Alex headed to the Music Hall. But along the way, Lotte once again appeared before him with a faint smile on her face.

The young lady had watched everything from the shadows. She wondered how Alex’s classmates, as well as his friends, would react to his new appearance.

Frankly, she was very amused. Everything went exactly how she imagined it would.

A part of her even wanted to announce to the world that this was her future partner as well.

Of course, since Latifa would become Alex’s wife in the future, all her Alters would naturally become close with him. After all, they shared the same heart.

"I have a feeling you planned all of this from the start, Lotte," Alex said as he walked toward the Alter standing in front of him.

"Maybe. Maybe not," Lotte replied as she reached out to pick a leaf that had fallen on Alex’s uniform. "Where are you going?"

"I have no particular destination in mind," Alex answered. "How about you? Is today your day off?"

"Mmm." Lotte nodded. "Today is my day off."

Now that he thought about it, his private interactions with Lotte weren’t a lot. Since she was already here, Alex thought that it wouldn’t be a bad idea to accompany her during her day off.

"They have a new menu at the Rising Cafe," Alex said. "Would you like to try it with me?"

"Are you asking me out on a date?" Lotte arched an eyebrow.

"Yes," Alex replied. "Would you like to go on a date with me?"

Lotte pondered for a while before nodding in agreement. She then reached out to hold onto Alex’s arm, something Latifa had always wanted to do with him.

Since her Mistress didn’t like to walk, Alex would sometimes carry her like a princess whenever they took a stroll around the clock tower.

Seeing that she was a little bold today, Alex gave her hand a light squeeze as they walked toward the cafe together.

Since most of the students were in their classes, the academy grounds were nearly deserted, just like in Alex’s dreams.

The only difference was that, if they peeked into the buildings, they would see people doing something, which set his heart at ease.

The last thing he wanted now was to wake up from a dream again, not realizing that he was still dreaming.

"Lotte, you’re awfully being proactive today," Alex said as they walked towards their destination. "For a moment, I thought you were Lumi."

"If I were Lumi, do you think you’d still be able to walk right now?" Lotte asked back in a teasing tone.

Each of Latifa’s Alters had their own private life. And frankly, aside from Latifa, Lumi’s was the most colorful of them.

"..."

"See? You’re not denying it."

Alex also wanted to know when Lumi’s switch was flipped. Her closeness to Alex seemed to have improved greatly during the time they first met Nero together, as well as the time when they entered the dungeon with Fran and Finn.

After returning from those trips, the usual "space" between Alex and Lumi had vanished.

She would not hesitate to hug him from behind when he was walking in the academy alone, or even sneak inside his dormitory room for a goodnight kiss every now and then.

Compared to her, Lotte was a Saint.

But perhaps this pure and innocent Saint had also been stained by Alex’s colors after seeing how vulnerable he was this morning.

When they arrived at the cafe, Alex was almost speechless when he discovered that the new menu the Rising Cafe had was actually a lovers’ menu.

Some of the waitresses there knew Alex. But, when they saw him, they almost didn’t recognize him.

Instead, they thought he was a transfer student who had just arrived at the academy. There was no way they wouldn’t be familiar with a man this handsome if he had visited them.

So, when they realized it was Alex, they gave him the "So you changed your look to pick up another girl, huh? Shame on you!" gaze.

His title of being a womanizer and the Blackmail King didn’t really help his reputation in the academy.

Though, Lotte was quite amused with the menu due to its concept. They would share the same drink with two straws that were shaped like hearts. The desserts were heart shaped as well.

Alex even thought that today was Valentines’ Day due to the effort that had been put to this special menu meant for couples.

Since they were already there, he decided to just go along with it.

"Please enjoy your meal... you womanizer, hmph!" The waitress turned her back at Alex after saying that line.

Lotte giggled. The young man sure was suffering from injustice. Even so, she enjoyed the treat and even wondered if she could replicate this back at the clock tower.

After they finished the meal, Alex quickly left the place with Lotte because he could no longer endure the judgmental stares of the waitresses.

He was certain that before this day was over, a new rumor was going to spread in the academy.

Lotte, on the other hand, was enjoying this intimate moment with him. Her heart felt lighter, and her mood improved by being with him.

It was a feeling that she discovered today.

"Alex, Lumi said that you often go to the Old Library with Evangeline," Lotte whispered. "Can you take me there? I’ve never been there before."

Thinking that Lotte was just curious, he readily agreed to her request. He also wanted to spend some time with Latifa’s Alters, especially after what he experienced in his dream.

He wanted to get closer to them, especially Lotte, who was a dependable friend.

Lulu was his favorite. But after meeting her in real life, Alex always felt that Little Alex was in danger.

Her mature appeal made his heart beat faster.

Her mischievous touch made his knees turn weak.

And her kisses?

Her kisses were the best he ever had.

Fortunately, Lumi was keeping tabs on Lulu.

If not, Alex might just wake up one day with this powerful and extremely dangerous Alter of Latifa tying him up on the bed, ravishing him until he and Little Alex raised the white flag in surrender.

Since Lotte was different from Lulu, Alex didn’t feel any danger coming from her. In fact, he felt safer with Lotte than he was with Lumi.

She was like a confidant he could count on whenever he needed it the most.

And maybe, just now, he had unknowingly touched a part of her heart, which was very vulnerable to people with sad looks on their faces.

Alex had no idea that he might just have unlocked the hidden condition to enter the Lotte Route in ELO.
