Chapter 357 - 347: Warm Moments Together
The atmosphere in the living room rose another degree due to the instigation of the two little ones.
"Alright, I’ll treat you. What do you want to eat, little glutton?" Jiang Zihui asked with a generous smile on his steady face.
"Ice cream." Jiang Ziye’s eyes lit up instantly. He knew that the eldest brother couldn’t save pocket money, but the second brother was the real tycoon.
"Ice cream? But it’s not even summer yet..." Jiang Zihui raised an eyebrow, looking somewhat uncertainly at Liu Yulan.
Liu Yulan immediately nodded, "Yes, no ice cream. It’s not the season yet; you’ll get an upset stomach."
Jiang Ziye pouted, thinking: Who are you kidding, trying to fool kids, when he’s seen many classmates eat it, and they didn’t get stomachaches. Hmph...
Seeing Jiang Ziye’s sullen look, the adults exchanged glances, eyes filled with amusement. What a little fool, charmingly naive and adorable.
Jiang Zixuan sighed lightly at this, her eyes flashing with cleverness, and then coquettishly said to Jiang Zihui, "Second brother, I want to eat KFC."
"Sure." As the only girl in the house, she’s showered with love, though thankfully Jiang Zixuan wasn’t spoiled.
Jiang Ziye, whose eyes had dimmed, brightened up again, "I, I want to go too."
However, thinking of the price of KFC, he hesitated a little, his eyes darting as he cautiously asked Jiang Zihui, "Second brother, do you have enough money?"
Looking at his silly little brother, Jiang Zihui felt a warmth in his heart, "Plenty, order whatever you like."
"Oh yeah, we’re going to eat KFC..." Jiang Ziye jumped up joyfully.
"Oh wow, second brother, you’re so generous. Such good things are best enjoyed with more company, don’t forget about your older brother..." Jiang Zihan shamelessly slung an arm around Jiang Zihui’s shoulder, looking like a good buddy.
Jiang Zihui shot him a sideways glance, his lips curling slightly, "Of course I won’t forget you. We’ll go settle the bill together, fifty-fifty, fair and square."
"Wh...What? I never said I was treating." Jiang Zihan jumped up the moment he heard that.
"What? As the eldest brother, you’re not planning to treat your younger siblings..."
Receiving a disdainful look from his younger brother, he scratched his head awkwardly, a bit frustrated, "It’s not that I don’t want to treat, it’s that I can’t afford it. I’m not like you, Mr. Wealthy. When I’ve saved up enough, I’ll treat everyone to ice cream, hehe..."
After saying that, he smiled at his siblings, patting his chest to assure them.
"Ice cream? Oh yeah, awesome, thanks, big brother." Jiang Ziye’s eyes lit up at the mention of ice cream. How obsessed could he be with ice cream?
Seeing his younger brother playing along, Jiang Zihan was even happier, "Yes, big brother will buy it. You can have as many as you like."
Jiang Zihan bragged, haha, he’s smart. Ice cream is just a few bucks per stick, he can’t eat more than two at a time, otherwise, his mom wouldn’t let him go.
He deliberately mentioned ice cream, as he couldn’t afford to treat everyone to KFC. Seems like it’s working well.
Jiang Zihui saw his big brother coax the younger one and pursed his lips but didn’t expose him.
No time like the present.
Since they were going to eat KFC, and it was getting late, Wang Miaomiao took the kids straight to a KFC near the school.
Kids have limited appetites anyway; they ate as much as they could and there were still a couple of chicken wings left over to take home.
Today, Jiang Yan came home late again.
Dragging his tired body home, he saw the whole family still gathered in the living room, as usual.
Mr. Jiang was playing chess with Jiang Zihui, while Jiang Zihan, Jiang Ziye, and Jiang Zixuan were playing cards. Jiang Zihan and Jiang Ziye’s faces were covered in paper slips, except for Jiang Zixuan’s, which was clean.
At a glance, Jiang Yan knew his two sons had been bested by their sister again.
As for Wang Miaomiao, she was lounging in a recliner, leisurely flipping through a famous foreign novel, with a steaming cup of tea on the table beside her.
"You’re back." Seeing Jiang Yan return, Wang Miaomiao immediately put down her book and approached him, "Have you eaten?"
Jiang Yan casually placed his briefcase on the nearby cabinet and smiled contentedly as his wife approached.
After ten years, their love remained as strong as ever.
Jiang Yan held Wang Miaomiao’s hand, intertwining their fingers, "I always eat before coming home, I’m not hungry. You don’t have to make anything special for me."
Wang Miaomiao smiled knowingly but didn’t respond to his words.
Seeing this, Jiang Yan chuckled softly, a mutual understanding between them.
He’s said this countless times, but never saw Wang Miaomiao heed his words.
With Jiang Yan’s return, the living room became even more lively.
"Dad, second brother took us to eat KFC today." Jiang Ziye, his face covered in paper slips, hopped in front of Jiang Yan to show off.
Jiang Yan looked at his son’s strange appearance and helplessly removed the slip covering his eyes, "Really? Did you have a good time?"
"Yeah, we even brought back a pair of chicken wings to share with you." Jiang Ziye chattered away, trying to stop Jiang Yan’s hand, "That can’t be removed. A bet’s a bet, I have to wear them for half an hour."
Little guys like him are always serious about their tasks, very earnest.
"Mom, hurry and heat up the chicken wings for Dad. He came back so late, working so hard, really deserves a break." Such mature-sounding words made Wang Miaomiao chuckle.
"Your dad said he’s not hungry. I’m afraid our good intentions might go to waste." Wang Miaomiao squeezed Jiang Yan’s hand, looking at him with a mischievous glint.
Jiang Yan tightened his grip on her playful hand, this little minx, trying to captivate him again.
"Dad, aren’t you hungry?" Jiang Ziye heard he wasn’t hungry and his eyes darted about, somewhat expectantly, "Won’t the chicken wings spoil if we leave them? It’s so hot, they’ll go bad, right?"
He asked so many rhetorical questions in a row, looking hopefully between Jiang Yan and Wang Miaomiao, gulping as his intentions became clear to anyone.
"Yes, they will spoil. Why don’t we let Mom heat them for you? Are you hungry?" Jiang Yan didn’t disappoint him, immediately saying what he wanted to hear.
"Hungry, I’m hungry. I can help Dad eat them, so they don’t go to waste." Jiang Ziye’s eyes sparkled, full of energy.
"Haha... alright, I’ll go heat them." Wang Miaomiao was also more tolerant toward this son. Granting a child’s little wish isn’t a big deal, really, why not let everyone be happy?
"Oh yeah, I’m so happy. Thanks, Mom and Dad." Jiang Ziye’s temperament is indeed good, like any ordinary child, very cute and appealing, without becoming a brat because of the extra indulgence from family.
Family education is very important, and the Jiang family’s kids are all excellent. Sometimes, Wang Miaomiao really feels that coming to this other world to enjoy such happiness is like a dream.
