Chapter 907 Odin's Incompetence in Raising His Son

"Father, Loki has taken the Eternal Flame—"

"I know."

Odin seemed to have no intention of letting Thor continue the pursuit: "I'll find a way to resolve this. Now, we need to entertain our guests."

Thor hesitated, remembering Loki's words. He then looked at Odin. There was no doubt that Odin had held back. Surtur was no match for Odin, yet the two had fought to a standstill until Thor chased after Loki.

This was another illogical point. Thor looked at Odin suspiciously, but ultimately said nothing, only nodding. Odin then told Thor to take Peter to rest while he went to check on the vault.

As for the treasure Peter chose, wasn't it already in Saul's hands?

Strange and Odin arrived at the vault together. Once inside, Strange joked, "Looks like you talk more to your rebellious son than your good son."

"Thor is completely different from Loki. Thor possesses immense strength and exceptional talent, unlike any of his brothers. He was raised from birth to be the heir to Asgard. He never knew what responsibilities a king would bear, seeing only endless conquest and glory. Therefore, I stripped him of his power and turned him into a mortal."

"Donald Black, a mortal who believed he had only received the power of Thor, a disabled doctor who, even though he considered himself mortal, could use the power of Thor to help others. Through this, you made him a truly qualified heir to Asgard."

Odin didn't reply to Strange's words. Instead, he walked to the display stand where the Eternal Flame had been placed, looked at it for a while, remained silent, and then continued, "But there's a difference between a crown prince and a king. Thor is a qualified crown prince now, but the question is whether he's ready to take on the responsibility for all of Asgard. Therefore, he needs another quality."

Thor needs to question the correctness of Odin's decision and doubt Odin's motives. Thor must be sufficiently suspicious of Odin's series of abnormal behaviors, wondering whether he deliberately let Loki go to break Ragnarok, or whether he was fishing to wipe out the resistance forces.

In short, Odin needs Thor to question him. Or rather, Thor will be qualified when he dares to question Odin's choices.

At this point, Odin walked to another empty platform, where branches of the World Tree used to be placed, but they had now been removed.

"As for Loki, he has no concept of responsibility, and the same methods cannot make him realize what responsibility is. Moreover, he is the youngest son, and in his subconscious, no matter what he does wrong, his father and brothers will bail him out. Therefore, he is the god of mischief, and once mischief gets out of control, it turns into conspiracy and trickery."

"But conversely, if used properly, pranks can also become strategies and wisdom. So I told him the truth, the whole truth, and made him realize that his father and brother were not omnipotent, but even very dangerous, and were always on the verge of death. That's when his sense of responsibility was born."

Thor has the ability and the willingness to take responsibility, so Odin needs to cultivate his awareness of questioning authority, transforming him from a crown prince who sees himself as someone to inherit his father's position into a king responsible for all of Asgard. Loki, on the other hand, is completely unwilling to take responsibility, so he needs to be made aware of what responsibility is.

"Moreover, only lies have the power to conceal everything I say, thus not disturbing them at all."

Strange had no intention of commenting on the educational traditions of the Asgardian royal family, although the price was quite high: the death of a son, his wife still bedridden, and the loss of some belongings.

"If you're saying all this just to get me to help you by getting me to throw away the Winter's Chest so Malekith can trigger Ragnarok, then I think it's completely unnecessary."

"Their power comes from the destiny of mythology, the Sorcerer Supreme. And breaking Ragnarok will weaken them. These gods, whatever they may be, whether they are Gaia's kind or just a kind of god that existed before us, their goal is definitely not simply to devour destiny and gain power."

Strange didn't answer at all, but instead looked at a counter on the other side that neither Thor nor Loki had ignored. On it lay the Tesseract, crushed by Odin, and the Space Stone inside. Strange grabbed it, and the Time Stone appeared in his hand as well.

"The Mind Stone is in the hands of S.H.I.E.L.D., and of course, in the hands of Hydra; while the Soul Stone is on Adam Warlock's head. Of the six Infinity Stones, four have now appeared."

"What kind of conspiracy are you worried about?"

"If the records of Kamar-Taj are accurate, the Infinity Stones existed at the very beginning of the universe, a manifestation of primordial power. They were divided among the remnants of the previous multiverse after its destruction. This group calls themselves the Elders of the Universe."

Upon hearing the name, Odin chuckled, then seemed to recall something: "I know them. Asgard has dealt with two of them. One is the Grandmaster, whose favorite pastime is organizing various competitions and games; the other is a collector who enjoys amassing the rarest items in the universe. Are they remnants of the previous universe?"

"They claim to be," Strange said nonchalantly, then put the Time Stone away and got down to business: "The question now is, if the Infinity Stones were originally in the hands of the Elders of the Universe, then where did these Infinity Stones come from?"

Odin, however, didn't seem to care: "The Space Stone was a bet I made with the Grandmaster thousands of years ago. He lost that game and gave me the Space Stone, and then I made a shell for it."

Strange: ————

"Besides, the Reality Stone is still in the hands of collectors, so I don't think you need to worry about it too much. From ancient times to the present, everyone who knows about the Infinity Stones knows that these six stones contain the great power of creation, but the problem is that no one has ever known how to use them. The Elders of the Universe have been playing with them since the beginning of time, and they still don't know how to make them work."

As Strange thought about this, something suddenly occurred to him: "Perhaps there really is someone who knows how to unleash the full power of the Infinity Stones."

Spider-Man?

"That's right, just because no one knows about our universe doesn't mean no one knows about other universes."
