Chapter 1145 Reverse Lightning: 50 Years
"Very good, now let's examine our basic plan."
The Riddler and the Time Master stand at the control panel of the spaceship, in front of a simplified multiverse map that helps them navigate to the parallel universe they wish to visit.
"First, based on your basic intelligence, we will find Reverse-Flash hiding in a parallel universe, and then try to persuade him to provide us with the support of the Speed Force to ensure that we are not caught by the Anti-Monitor and killed instantly when entering and leaving the Heroes of Death universe."
"What if Reverse Lightning doesn't want to help us?"
The Time Master asked the question, and then he saw the Riddler looking at him.
"Oh, my friend, you know, I'm the villain."
"At the same time, we also need to find Martha, the Joker-like Batman's mother from the Dark Multiverse, who can help us fight against the power of the five-dimensional beings."
"That's right, but I hadn't thought of how to persuade them at all—wait, I haven't had a chance to talk to you about this yet."
"You shouldn't have put the access points to these data so openly on your computer desktop. It's very unprofessional, even if you've done some simple encryption."
As the Riddler spoke, he quickly scanned the data: "Don't worry too much. If the Anti-Monitor is powerful enough to truly shake the history of Batman Dragon leaving the DC Multiverse, he wouldn't need to be lingering in a world like Heroes of the Dead. Our next goal isn't to interrupt all of the Anti-Monitor's actions at once, but rather to stop him from constantly strengthening himself within Heroes of the Dead. He's currently trying to create a body for himself in the current timeline within Heroes of the Dead."
He had originally managed to have a new body, but all of that vanished when Batman Dragon severed the connection between the 5G era and the DC multiverse.
Without a body, he'll forever be a ghost, forever unable to escape the oppression of the infinite Earth crisis history. Only by interrupting his progress can we have the right to talk to him about trying to send him back; it's all in vain. Let's go, it's time for us to appear before Reverse-Flash. You see, while I was talking to you, I already figured out how to fly this ship, so now—"
The spaceship roared loudly, and the Time Master was certain that he had indeed found someone who could integrate the scattered information into a sustainable plan.
With his and the Riddler's continued operation, the spaceship quickly broke through space after several jumps and appeared on Earth in a parallel universe.
"Damn it, where am I?!"
The Time Master looked down at the barren land through the screen, then adjusted the spaceship's camera and saw a small town on the edge of the desert in the distance.
"The spaceship helped us locate Reverse-Flash directly," the Riddler said. "You recorded his vital information directly, so it shouldn't be wrong. This is it. It means our Reverse-Flash was indeed terrified by the divine battle between Batman Dragon and the World Forger, these high-dimensional beings, which is why he's hiding in this place."
The spaceship slowly descended.
"How do you plan to persuade Reverse-Flash to help?" Master Time asked. "I can't think of any way to persuade him right now."
"Reverse-Flash has spent his entire life trying to surpass Barry Allen, the Flash. To deal with a villain like that, you have to start with his obsession. It's as simple to me as a puzzle I already know the answer to." The Riddler pointed to his head: "Just like riddles are to me. Even though I've tried hard to give up riddles now, the urge to speak keeps echoing in my mind."
"Okay, okay, I know you know them inside and out, but what I mean is—what if?"
"Oh, believe me, it's going to be ugly," the Riddler told the Time Master. "In fact, when I first accessed the ship's computers, I checked the armory. The ship's previous owner—"
"A foolish tyrant."
"That's right, whatever he's called, whatever. But everything he left behind is very useful."
The riddle teller said this.
"Let's go, let's give Reverse-Flash a chance."
The spaceship quickly docked just a few kilometers from the town.
The Riddler had prepared a photograph of Reverse Lightning. After asking two passersby, they quickly learned that the current Alberdeswan was not using an alias. They were soon guided to the town's largest pub.
With a creak, they pushed the door open.
The tavern was filled with elderly people with white hair and beards.
"This sounds like the opening of some Westerns," the Time Master murmured.
"What we're dealing with is far more terrifying than what the cowboys are dealing with," the Riddler said.
He asked the black waiter in a low voice, "I'm looking for Alberd Swann."
"Oh, it's Dr. Swann," the man replied. "He's sitting at the table in the back, with his back to you."
"Remember to be respectful. Reverse-Flash is arrogant and unpredictable. If possible, we'd rather cooperate with him than fight him or have him stab you in the heart with a high-frequency hand chop." Master Time whispered to Riddler, "I don't know what backup plans you have for dealing with him, but don't act rashly. Try to persuade him if you can; he's a dangerous person."
"Although I would like to say that I am also a dangerous person, thank you for your suggestion, I will take it," said the Riddler.
He left the Time Master standing guard behind him and strode over quickly.
"I wonder—would I have the honor of speaking with Dr. Alberd Swann?"
He saw the reverse lightning turn its head.
He saw the other man's full head of white hair and wrinkles. He was no longer young; he looked old and haggard.
"Yes, of course."
The riddle teller frowned slightly: "You're not quite what I imagined."
"I guess you're yet another traveler visiting this area," the Riddler heard the other say. "And you want to hear my adventures? Yes, come on. Hey, have a beer, please sit down."
The Riddler sat down, and then he heard Alberdeswan say, "Let's start with my journey of saving the President of the United States—"
"Wait a minute, I think I'm different from other people."
The riddle-maker ignored the old man who called himself Swan and turned to look at another old man sitting in the shadows to the side.
"I'm not one of those boring travelers who just want to hear stories. Suggest a real conversation, Reverse-Flash, Elberd Swann?"
The multiverse needs you.
"But the question is, do I need a multiverse?"
Reverse Lightning turned around and nodded slightly to the old man pretending to be him.
"Jimmy, you can leave now."
The old man named Jimmy shrugged, then got up and walked away from the two of them.
The Riddler watched the imposter, whom Reverse-Flash had used as a shield, walk past them, then turned his gaze back to Reverse-Flash.
"I don't know why the side effects of the Speed Force have made you age so much—"
"You're not from this universe, are you?"
Then he was interrupted by the other party.
"My dear friend, this is not a side effect of the Speed Force. It is the true mark of time. I have lived in this universe for 50 years. Half a century. Everything has changed."
Two children walked over from the side, and the riddle-maker heard them call Grandpa Reverse Lightning.
Reverse-Flash dismissed them with some food, then turned back to the Riddler.
The Riddler heard Reverse-Flash say, "Whatever you want me to do—I've lost the Speed Force."
