Chapter 1147 Lincoln March Returns
"You can kill me now, but there will be no justice or fairness in this. For anyone, a senseless killing is neither fair nor just."
The riddle-maker's brain was practically spinning on fire.
In negotiations, fairness is a powerful word; it forces most people to adopt a defensive stance and make concessions. Incidentally, the Riddler once used this entire set of techniques on the Joker, but it did nothing but result in a beating and ridicule. He survived that time only because the Joker wanted to use it as material for a game with Batman, not because of any superior persuasive ability on his part.
Well, maybe those persuasion techniques really did work on the Joker? Even the Riddler himself wasn't entirely sure. But whatever the case, Mr. Nigma had skillfully used his intelligence many times before, and he would succeed again this time.
He used the word "fairness" to make the other person empathize and reflect on their own behavior. Primates are the only animals that value fairness more than what they receive, even chimpanzees.
"Perhaps our plan to save the multiverse has caused some terrible consequences, but... you are here now. You have traveled through time to stop us, to change us. History has been altered by you. The ending will no longer lead to the terrible future you know. Although I don't know the details yet, it's clear that the mistakes I would have made will not be made again, because of your existence."
The riddle-maker slowly said, "And you, my friends, are the true heroes."
Two true heroes traveled through time to help two other heroes avert a massive and terrible crisis. There have been precedents in the DC multiverse, haven't there?
The two tactics of arousing sympathy and fairness were not enough to completely convince the other party, so the riddle teller quickly resorted to a third tactic.
"Listen, I am one of the smartest people in the DC multiverse, if any of my previous plans have caused consequences I was completely unaware of, then the information I have must have been flawed, and your existence is the only way to solve this problem. If we have someone on our team who can actually come up with a plan, then what we should do is make full use of his brain and prepare a foolproof plan."
Guide the conversation to areas you are good at.
Mr. Nigma used his authority.
His authority stems from his knowledge and status, all of which are evident to all.
Neither of the two people in front of them spoke.
The riddle-maker asked in a low voice, "Are we alright? I mean, are we just going to sit here doing nothing? Why don't you come to our spaceship first?"
"No, I haven't decided yet."
His words were interrupted by the other party.
"Then take us to your base. Don't you have any bases or anything like that? Why don't we talk in detail at your base? You can restrain us, tie us up, that way we won't cause any problems, right?"
The Riddler observed their expressions and breathed a sigh of relief. It was still so simple. Both seemed to have given up on killing them. Mr. Edward Nigma had once again manipulated everyone with his intellect; changing others' minds was as easy for the Riddler as eating and drinking.
Then he saw Empress Hecate and Alan Scott whisper to each other for a while. After a moment, Empress Hecate reluctantly walked over, extended a forefinger with a sharp nail, and the next second, the Time Master and the Riddler's hands and feet were bound by some kind of magic. It was like two non-Newtonian fluids that stuck to them, rendering them unable to move.
"Oh, I don't think I'm in that much danger," the Riddler muttered.
But that didn't change anything. He saw Alan Scott walk up to the elderly Reverse-Flash and make him a wheelchair using the Green Lantern Ring.
Are you really sure?
"Reverse Lightning asked."
But no matter what he said, he received no response. A portal opened, and soon, the five of them disappeared into it.

"For the C multiverse, nothing matters. That's just how it is. The so-called best times in life are really just about finding temporary entertainment to keep you busy so you don't realize the hardships of life."
You can ride a roller coaster, meet new friends, or spend the whole day with the people you care about. You can unleash a massacre, fight your enemies to the death, or run away from everything you care about.
When the Riddler and the Time Master opened their eyes again, they found themselves in a huge room.
A person sat behind a desk, with his back to them, and began to speak.
The Riddler's gaze fell upon the images on the wall, displaying one superhero character after another. Arsenal Roy and the Cheshire Cat: before the universe reboot, Arsenal Roy was addicted to drugs, went through rehabilitation, had a child, died and came back to life. Then, the New 52 arrived, and pop, he was back to being a child.
Green Lantern and Green Arrow, a friendship of two green heroes, traveled the world, experienced so much, and discussed such profound philosophical questions, and then the universe restarted—
We've never met before.
"But what remains unchanged is that the universe will eventually restart, and we will lose all memories of the last restart. All the grudges we have settled, all the love and hatred, will be useless."
"For a long time, we have been nothing more than playthings of the DC multiverse. When the universe needs us, we are reset; when the universe no longer needs us, we are kicked aside. Tell me, Riddler, the smartest person in the DC multiverse, what should we do in the face of this predicament? Is there any ultimate plan that can grant us ultimate free will, completely free us from the constant state of being rebooted and reconstructed by the universe, and achieve true and complete freedom?"
The Riddler remained silent, trying to determine where he was, who the other person was, and where Alan Scott and Queen Hecate were, who had brought him here.
"Stop thinking about it. I know what you're thinking. There's always someone on a team who uses the Batman persona."
And it's obvious that I am that person.
He heard the other person say that.
Then he saw the other person turn around: "I'm Lincoln March, nice to meet you."
"Mr. Nigma."
