Chapter 551 Job Transfer, Temporary Personnel Management Section
Chapter 551 Job Transfer, Temporary Personnel Management Section
Lin Feng immediately moved.
He subtly took a half-step to the side, pulling his arm out from between the Phantom's fingers.
The pumping speed wasn't fast, but it was steady enough.
The Phantom's fingers clenched in mid-air for a moment, as if grasping at thin air.
Then he stood next to Su Wan.
The two people were about half a body length apart, neither too close nor too far, just the distance between "normal colleagues walking together".
Su Wan turned and walked to the other end of the corridor.
Lin Feng followed behind.
A-Que took a step forward, blocking the line of sight between Mei Ying and Lin Feng, and made a standard "please" gesture.
"Do you need my help?"
Phantom stared at A-Que's expressionless face, her voice forced out through clenched teeth, each word grinding against her back teeth—
"unnecessary!"
Ah Que withdrew her hand without changing her expression.
"Please go ahead then." She stepped aside, making way for the elevator.
Phantom's chest heaved slightly before she forcefully suppressed it, as if she had swallowed a breath back into her stomach.
Several seconds later, she lifted her foot and walked towards the stairwell.
A-Que followed beside her, keeping an arm's length distance, like a silent shadow.
........................
Su Wan led Lin Feng out of the inpatient building and into a quiet, shady spot under the trees.
Su Wan turned around, raised her hand, and lightly poked Lin Feng's chest with her index finger.
"You little rascal," she said, enunciating each word clearly, her tone unreadable—whether it was disdain or something else—"you really do have a knack for attracting attention!"
Lin Feng opened his mouth, then closed it again, and finally sighed.
"Well... I had no choice."
He raised his hand and helplessly brushed a stray hair from his forehead.
"If I could, I would rather be an ordinary-looking person, really."
Su Wan looked at him, her lips twitching as if she wanted to laugh but held it back.
Lin Feng suddenly remembered something and frowned.
"By the way, Section Chief Su—wouldn't I be considered to have deserted my post? Ward 405 was supposed to be my assigned ward, but I left, and what about Dr. Moore…?"
Su Wan waved her hand, interrupting him.
"The guy in room 405 has you cornered, so we have no choice but to temporarily transfer you to our temporary personnel management department."
Lin Feng was taken aback for a moment, then a clear look of joy appeared on his face: "Really? Thank you, Section Chief Xie!"
"After all, it wasn't due to dereliction of duty." Su Wan turned her head, her gaze falling on the inpatient building, her voice calming down, "As the section chief, protecting you is also my responsibility."
After she finished speaking, she took out her phone from her pocket and dialed a number.
The call was answered quickly.
"Dr. Moore," Su Wan said bluntly, "Lin Feng needs to be temporarily transferred to our management department."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, then Sabrina's voice boomed out:
"Section Chief Su, are you kidding me? Lin Feng is doing a great job here, and that patient in 405 is totally into his ways. You're telling me you can just transfer him like that?"
"Do you know how hard it was for me to find someone who could keep room 405 stable?"
Su Wan waited until she finished speaking before saying, "Your room 405 almost ate him up just now, I stopped you at the last minute."
Sabrina paused for a moment: "...Eat?"
Su Wan said calmly, "His mouth was already open. If I hadn't shown up, he would already be in 405's stomach by now—so the result would be the same."
There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone, followed by an angry sigh.
Su Wan continued, "How about this, I'll send someone more quick-witted to replace him, so you won't be short-handed."
Sabrina rambled on for a while, this time in a lower voice, as if she were complaining about something, but her attitude had clearly softened.
Finally, she said, "It's settled then, let that person get on the job as soon as possible," her tone still a little reluctant, but at least she didn't press the matter further.
Su Wan hummed in agreement: "Get on duty within half an hour. Bye."
She hung up the phone and put it in her pocket.
Ah Ying stood two steps away, listening quietly the whole time, and then suddenly spoke:
"Sister Wan, the person in room 405 just now wasn't trying to eat Lin Feng."
Su Wan turned her head to look at her.
Ah Ying's expression was so sincere it was almost naive: "Looks like... she wants to sleep with him."
The air was silent for two seconds.
Su Wan rolled her eyes at A Ying: "With Lin Feng's small frame, can he even withstand sleeping with him? He'll be dead after just one nap."
Several dark lines appeared on Lin Feng's forehead.
No, I can't stand sleeping?
I can sleep until you can't get out of bed!
Ah Ying glanced at Lin Feng and nodded: "That's true, after all, the other party is an S-rank!"
Su Wan didn't say anything more, turned around and walked away, leaving him with the back of her head.
"Let's go."
........................
The three of them walked through the connecting corridor of the administration building and went up to the third floor.
At the end of the corridor is a door with a dark blue rectangular sign nailed above the door frame. The sign reads "Temporary Personnel Management Section" in white letters, and there is a small number in the upper left corner of the sign—"312".
Su Wan pushed open the door.
The office is neither too big nor too small, with a rectangular layout and six or seven desks crammed together.
The window faces north, so the light isn't very good, and the fluorescent light tubes emit a low humming sound.
Several old-fashioned metal filing cabinets stood in the corner.
The innermost table by the window is a dark-colored desk, larger than the others, with a clean and tidy surface—a monitor, a pen holder, and a white mug.
The chair was a leather chair with armrests, and a dark gray cardigan was draped over the back of the chair.
That was Su Wan's seat; it was clearly different from the others'.
Other tables are arranged along the two side walls, each piled with more or less documents and brochures, taking up most of the tabletop.
When the door was opened, everyone inside was there.
Behind the table on the right side of the window sat a thin, middle-aged man in his early fifties, with a slightly hunched back and wearing round-framed glasses.
He was holding a pencil and writing something in a yellowed booklet.
Hearing the door open, he looked up, his gaze sweeping over Su Wan before landing on Lin Feng behind her, his eyebrows furrowing almost imperceptibly.
A young woman is organizing the files in the cabinet.
She wore a plain-colored coat, had a round face, light freckles scattered on both sides of her nose, and wore round-framed glasses.
Hearing the noise, she turned around and her eyes met Lin Feng's face.
Her eyes behind her glasses lit up as if someone had flipped a switch.
She reached out and adjusted her glasses, her gaze sliding from Lin Feng's eyebrows to his chin, then back to his eyebrows, giving him a thorough, undisguised once-over.
A slight upturn at the corner of his mouth conveyed a sense of "work is on the way."
A young man was sitting behind the table closest to the door.
A stack of documents lay open in front of him, as if he were checking something.
When Lin Feng entered, he only slightly raised his head, his movements somewhat sluggish.
He glanced at Lin Feng, but the glance was brief and contained nothing of substance.
Then he lowered his head and continued looking at the documents, his expression unchanged, as if the person who had entered wasn't a person but a gust of wind...
