Chapter 1123: Qian Cheng’s Late Return
Chapter 1123: Qian Cheng’s Late Return
"You?" Jiang Xue glared angrily at Nangong Chen, but when she met that half-smiling look in his eyes, she had no choice but to swallow her temper and say, "Yes, I’m afraid of you. Can you leave now?"
This time it was Nangong Chen’s turn to be stunned. He hadn’t expected Jiang Xue to actually admit it. But he didn’t feel there was anything scary about himself—why would Jiang Xue be afraid of him?
Whether it was his looks or his character, there didn’t seem to be anything that could have made Jiang Xue misunderstand him, right?
After Jiang Xue finished speaking, she didn’t spare Nangong Chen another glance. Instead, she backed up a step and quickly shut the door.
Looking at the door that had closed on him again, Nangong Chen’s expression grew extremely dark.
He never imagined that Jiang Xue would hate him this much, to the point she wouldn’t even let him across her own threshold.
"Young Master, why don’t we just kick the door open?" a subordinate beside him suggested when he saw Nangong Chen’s face change.
Unexpectedly, Nangong Chen shot him a vicious glare when he heard that. He suddenly understood why Jiang Xue would be afraid of him.
If he remembered correctly, the first time he’d wanted to see Jiang Xue, he had sent a few of his men to block her way.
Damn it. If he’d known it would turn out like this, he would never have done that no matter what. Unfortunately, what was done was done; it was useless to regret it now.
"No need. Let’s go," Nangong Chen said coldly, then turned and left first.
After Jiang Xue closed the door, she didn’t leave right away. She leaned against the back of the door and quietly listened to the sounds outside. Only when she heard Nangong Chen leave did she finally relax.
Call her oversensitive or unfeeling if they wanted—either way, she felt that the farther she stayed from Nangong Chen, the better.
After making sure Nangong Chen had gone, Jiang Xue returned to the space again, entered the cave to tidy things up, then went to the mountaintop to do some cultivation for a while. Only then did she bring Little Reunion out and start preparing lunch.
After lunch, she cuddled Little Reunion and took a nap. When she woke up, she went to stroll around the mall and bought some household necessities.
Back home, she rested for a bit and was just about to start on dinner when Mr. Mu called. He said he wanted to come over to eat and asked Jiang Xue to make a bit more.
After hanging up, Jiang Xue cooked extra rice and added two more dishes. By the time she’d finished preparing everything, Mr. Mu and Housekeeper Lin had arrived. When they came in, they were carrying some fruit.
Seeing this, Jiang Xue smiled and said, "Mr. Mu, you shouldn’t have brought anything. Just coming is enough."
Mr. Mu chuckled and said, "It’s nothing special, just some fruit. No one at home will eat it anyway; better to bring it over for you and Little Reunion."
As he spoke, Mr. Mu signaled for Housekeeper Lin to take the fruit into the kitchen, while he himself headed toward the dining room.
When he reached the dining room and sat down, he asked, "Xue’er, what time will Qian Cheng be back? Should we wait for him to eat together?"
"No need, Mr. Mu. Let’s eat first. I’ve set aside food for him—when he gets back he can just heat it up and eat,"
Jiang Xue said, then went straight into the kitchen and brought out the dishes.
After dinner, Mr. Mu stayed over at Jiang Xue’s place again, but Mu Qiancheng still hadn’t returned. Jiang Xue sat on the sofa waiting, and as the hours passed, she couldn’t help growing anxious.
She kept waiting like that until after ten at night. Little Reunion had long since been coaxed to sleep. Mr. Mu and the others had gone to bed early as well, and Jiang Xue herself had already nodded off several times on the sofa before Mu Qiancheng finally came home.
